Who Am I

My name is Christine Qian and I am 21 years old. I am first generation Chinese-American and I was born and raised in southern California. I'm a senior majoring in Cognitive Science and minoring in Art Practice. I played the violin during elementary school and I love to sing (even though I'm not very good). My art background is primarily self-taught but I've taken art electives throughout high school and during my time at Berkeley. I maintain a strong passion for art and I'm constantly seeking new ways to grow as an artist. Professionally I'm seeking work as a UX/UI designer or a graphic designer but personally I love the fine arts and painting and drawing. My favorite mediums are watercolor and ink pen. My favorite instruments (to listen to) are the cello and accordion. My favorite genres are disco and post-rock. I'm excited for the content of this course and how I will develop artistically throughout it. American folk music and its roots are interesting to me, especially the spiritual aspects of many songs. Even though I am not religious, gospel and spiritual music has always struck a chord with me.
